Aug. 9, 2006, 7:23 p.m.It's not suprising Disney is looking to dump Mr Gibson's film. Somehow they forgave the anti-semitism of "Passion" , but let's not forget that Walt Disney himself was Jewish. Their forgiveness can only go so far.
Remember though, Disney itself is in a tight spot. Most of its motion picture revenues come from the Pixar films like "Cars" and "Incredibles." They recive reletively modest profits from the distribution fees. Disney is desperately seeking a hit from in-house, since most of their own productions have either flopped or have been mediocre. Canning or selling-off the film would be a waste of money they may not want to afford. But then again, if the film flops financially...

Aug. 9, 2006, 7:30 p.m.I've always heard (and correct me if I'm wrong any one) that Walt Disney himself hated Jews. Just what I've heard from a couple of Jewish lawyers I know, like I said please correct me if I'm wrong anybody.

Aug. 9, 2006, 7:39 p.m.This is why Gibson got drunk and this is why Disney is dumping "Apocalypto:" it stinks. Gibson knew he'd made a stinker and now Disney has a reason to rid itself of said stinker. Look for Gibson to join Sally Field in the lucrative commercial market...

Aug. 9, 2006, 8:04 p.m.Ok, this is almost completely off-topic.
But why does everyone say the "Passion" is Anti-Semitic?
Forgice me if I sound sarcastic, I'm truly curious, as I haven't seen the film. All I know is its supposedly the story of Jesus' death, and you know what? Gee, the Jews killed him.
Anyway, I have no interest in the movie..I'm not even Christian. I'm just curious.

Aug. 9, 2006, 8:10 p.m.Ooooops, to the dude who said Walt D, was Jewish. Wrong mensa, according to several research web sites, the Disney name was originally d'isigny, which is Norman French, hailing from the canton of Isigny-sur-Mer. The Disneys, among others descended from Normans who settled the British Isles around the 11th century of the common era.
I will support Mel because its okay to bad mouth negroes, chicanos and Indians, but you can't say squat about the Jews. Screw that

Aug. 9, 2006, 8:24 p.m.Truth be told, the only race you can slam and get away with it is the caucasians. Say anything negative about any other color and it's 'racism'....but hey, white boys are free game!
If we had WET (White Entertainment Television) we'd be racists.
If we had a White Pride Day you would call us racists.
If we had white history month, we'd be racists.
If we had an organization for only whites to "advance" our lives, we'd be racists.
If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships, you know we'd be racists.
There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US, yet if there were "White colleges" that would be a racist college.
In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.
You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.
I'm confused here....

Aug. 9, 2006, 8:28 p.m.I absolutely adore Morgan Freeman, the actor...He said:
"I don't want a black history month. Black history is American history. I'll stop calling you a white man. And I'm going to ask you to stop calling me a black man."
He's right on the money! He thinks it's about time we become one nation.

Aug. 9, 2006, 8:29 p.m.As a Jew friend of mine said "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone". Nice to see so many hypocrites bare their souls publicly.

Aug. 9, 2006, 8:55 p.m.It's ironic that Mel is being hit for his remarks on the micro level as is France on the Macro for the same reasons. I will make sure I take the day off to go see his new Movie.

Aug. 9, 2006, 8:56 p.m.Dude, I don't know the world where you're living, but you have WET, its called network television, its always white f_cking history month, you several white right groups (the klan and the GOP), the so- called "black colleges aren't really black colleges, because 1)They are funded by white people and 2) The same order to desegragate the white ones have been used on them by poor whites who couldn't afford Tulane and Vanderbilt, you had a million man march, it was called manifest destiny, and when we say black power it doesn't come with the obligatory cross burning.
YOU AND OTHERS LIKE YOU NEED TO STOP YOUR BITCHING. AS A TRIPLE MINORITY, I USED TO GET ****** TIRED LEARNING ABOUT WHITE FU_KING PEOPLE WHILE IN HISTORY CLASS. OTHER RACES HAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE AND THOSE STORIES NEED TO BE TOLD TO.

Aug. 9, 2006, 9:12 p.m.Oh Mel you smell...like cheap women, cocaine and bourbon. The once mighty Mel has fallen to Hollywood prey. Since your fame from Braveheart (great movie) your fame, ego has gotten the better of you. Your looks have given in to time from cocaine parties, harems of women, and booze. In and out of rehab clinics over the years, then your comeback. ln the name of greed what a better way to do it by being know better than a preying avangelist on TV. The Passion of the Christ was nothing more than a cheap remake of Christ`s crusifiction, only with more gory details....well knowing its ticket draw at the box office from people around the world who dont really go to the movies but hopefully will get spirtually reconnected again. You made Millions on that scam alone! shame on you!. As for slandering the Jewish community later..what a hypercrite! The Jews own Hollywood and probably told you are now to old and expendable for alot of leading roles. The truth comes out when you drink Mel!

Aug. 9, 2006, 9:20 p.m.dear REddeath,
wALT DISNEY, LIKE MEL GIBSON, AND LIKE MYSELF, WAS IRISH AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!! SO WHERE IN THE HELL DO YOU GET THAT INFO?? ROY DISNEY, A NEPHEW OF WALT, OWNS A FORMER NORMAN CASTLE IN COUNTY KILKENNY IRELAND AND SPENDS HIS TIME THERE AND ABOARD A BIG YAHCT OFF THE COAST OF IRELAND. THIS IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF DISNEY'S IRISH CONNECTION. THE NAME DISNEY ACTUALLY COMES FROM D'IGNEY WHICH WAS A FRENCH HUGUENOT NAME WHICH IS ACTUALLY THE ORIGINAL DISNEY FAMILY NAME UNTIL THEY ARRIVED IN AMERICA FROM IRELAND. THE HUGENOTS WERE EXPELLED FROM FRANCE AND FLED TO IRELAND IN THE Early 1700s. so i suggest you research your facts before you write on the internet. i'm so happy that the Disney's are Irish. jewish? well thats a religon not a natioanality and i'm sure the disney's wouldn't dabble in something as far out and ancient as that. they are business people first. leave mel alone. so he says

Aug. 9, 2006, 9:26 p.m.Its about time the actors/actresses, pay attention to statementts and remarks they make in public. I welcome this action by Disney, its been along time coming. After all they should not be excluded from being punished for unacceptable behavior or actions.
