It never ceases to amaze me the kind of crap that makes tons of money in America. How fitting, though, that a film so devoted to violence should take root in a society so accepting of violence.

Have you seen the movie yet? If not, how can you comment on the content of it? I think violence against another human being is wrong, except in cases of self defense, but, um... 300 is a movie. It's about a (albeit highly fictionalized version) war thousands of years ago. Kind of hard to make a movie about war without the violence.

I can see why you think it's about violence, but it's a violent world. I think the movie is more about people willing to lay down their lives to maintain their FREEDOM!

Because freedom in America is, apparently, the right to go out and kill whomever you want as long as you claim you're doing it "for their good."

Part of the price we pay for living in a free society is allowing the rights of cowards like you, who hate their country, to assault it. Greater men then you have died to give you that right. If you hate your country so much, try moving to some Muslim country and criticizing them. They would surely cut your tongue out. "For those who have fought for it, Freedom has a flavor that the Protected will never know." "The pacifist is as surely a traitor to his country and to humanity as is the most brutal wrongdoer" Theodore Roosevelt.

The day may come Dionys, when you wish to God that American troops will come save your ignorant, sorry ass, from whatever pathetic hole you have dug for yourself. Thank God we used violence against the Nazi's and Japanese during WW2, or we would all be goose stepping in the streets. Oh wait, that is probably not something you would be willing to fight for, is it? But I bet you would be willing to let somebody else do the fighting for you. Pathetic pacifist. Go join Chamberlain from Britain and all of his ilk.

Amazing where this conversation turned in only a few posts.

I wonder if Dionys ever saw it in the first place...

I agree. The movie is all about freedom and sacrificing yourself for values you consider to be greater than your own individual life, in this case freedom. the movie is NOT about "the right to go out and kill whomever you want as long as you claim you're doing it "for their good"". Actually, that's the sort of stance the invading king Xerxes takes and one the 300 Spartans lay their lives down to oppose.

I will see it b/c of the cinematography and the storyline. I cannot comment on the violence but just based on the previews it's about battling so duh....

But it's no secret that violence sells just like sex. So why be mad that the directors, etc for making a movie that they know we'll eat up? Everyone else is chasing the "Almighty" dollar, why shouldn't they?!!!! Seems to be the American way, has and always will be. Sorry to say!

I saw it yesterday and I liked it Very Much , I was expecting a lot more violence since that is what everyone was talking about but the violence was justified and had merit besides we are way more barberic Now than in the movie. This People were fighting for freedom and we are fighting for oil .They Had a King willing to die for their freedom , A queen that sacrifice her own self triying to save the 300 and 300 men that give up their lives for the good of Spartans and their freedom .

What is it about liberals that makes them so quick to justify the reasons for another country's choice to wage war and at the same time so quick to condemn America's reasons to wage war, no matter how justifiable? This movie was fantastic and I have seen it twice already. I enjoyed it so much because the Spartan culture and Greece as a whole was the cornerstone upon which Western Civilzation was built. Freedom, individual sacrifice and defense of the nation. If you cannot recognize the striking similarities between the movie and the current struggle we are engaged in you're only fooling yourself. East vs. West, tyranny and despotism vs. freedom, logic and reason vs. mysticism. (We only differ from Sparta in that Sparta did not let itself become effeminized with weak men and traitors. take the character Theron for example....i think his name translates into Jack Murtha)

HA ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!! That's about as much merit as I can give your post. Haven't read anything that funny in quite a while! What comedy show do you write for? If you don't write for one, please get a job doing so. You are hysterical. Effeminized with weak men and traitors. Classic! (If this was actually a serious post, take two of the blue pills for a reality check and call yourself in the morning)
