the trailer looked good too. if the movie is compared to watered down chili, then maybe they should have made it a TV adaptation. They use commercials to fill the dead space.

    FTA:

"Many authors, Stephen King included, have put forth the opinion that the short story is the ideal literary form for horror, as it is difficult to maintain fear in a reader over the course of the hundreds of pages a novel requires."

I somehow think that either Mr. King is a hypocrite or he's paid by the word. Have you ever seen his novels? Hundreds of pages of expository writing and inane subplots.

I doubt I'll see this movie.

Though difficult to follow at times, I think he is still a magnificent and imaginative author.

I saw Messengers, it was okay I guess, the ending was weak. I might watch this one on dvd, in the comfort of my own home, where I can turn it off if it gets particularly lame or I start to pass out. : )

-One of my favorite scenes with Samuel Jackson is in Deep Blue Sea when he's goin' off, givin' his big inspiring speech and the shark jumps out and gobbles him up. Ahhh, the last great monster movie-

It looks entertaining. I'll probably rent when it comes out on DVD.

yeah Messengers definately had it's moments, tho worth it to watch on DVD. I do the wait for the DVD thing as well usually. Like that pause, no rude people talking, not paying rip off prices for drinks and snacks etc....

Knowing myself I will definately watch 1408

I love horror short stories, and sometimes wish a certain story was made into a novel because I thought it so great, I wanted it to go on and on. And often books turned into movies, only problem with that is, movies usually cannot do as well at portraying things as in books, and I've often been disapointed.

I don't feel desensitized with books like I do with movies for some reason. Maybe I'm just watching too many horror flicks?!
